Swim Course

The swim course, which takes place in Lake Kingsley, is a single loop for both Sprint and Olympic distance athletes.

Lake Kingsley, the oldest lake in Florida, is a very stable lake with a sandy bottom. It’s famous for its clear waters, water skiing, fishing, and its stability.

The swim course will consist of three turn buoys and there will be ample lifeguard coverage during on the water at all times.

  • If you need assistance during the swim, wave your hand in the air. Lifeguards will be watching you.
  • If you drop out of the swim, you MUST immediately notify the Swim Marshall. There will be volunteers to collect your chip. You may continue the event, but you will not record a time.

Bike Course

Like much of the surrounding area, Camp Blanding offers a few rolling hills and our bike course includes a couple of them.  The base is more or less vacant on weekends and it’s likely that you won’t see any traffic while you’re cycling.

The course is a single loop, and as with the swim course, Sprint distance triathletes will cycle the course once and Olympic distance athletes will hit it twice.  There will be aid stations on the course.

  • You must walk out of the transition area to mount your bike.
  • Watch for cars on the bike course. We do everything possible to ensure your safety but we cannot control everyone. The course is still considered open to vehicles. Pay attention.
  • SAFETY WARNING: There is one area on the bike course that has lime rock on the road. This area will be marked with safety cones.
  • You must dismount your bike prior to re-entering the transition area.

Run Course

For the run portion of the event, athletes completing in the Sprint and Olympic distance events will take a different route.  Sprint athletes will run an out-and-back of 3.1 miles, whereas Olympic athletes will run a different 6.2-mile course, which is also an out-and-back.

There will be little shade on the course during much of the run (we don’t call it the HOT for nothing!) but there are aid stations on the course.
